Verinform Announces OHSU Contract

October 18, 2001 - Portland, Oregon

Verinform Systems, Inc. announced today that Oregon Health & Science University Graduate Medical Education (OHSU GME) is contracting with Verinform to provide Web-based information management for all 59 clinical training programs in the institution.

The VerinformRM™ system manages rotation and call schedules, evaluations, procedures and profiles for all house officers and attending physicians. Users are notified via email that evaluation forms are waiting for them to complete online, and each user sees only the information that is appropriate based on their login. Procedures reported by residents are emailed instantly to the supervising physician to verify, and the supervising physician need only click the Reply button to accept the procedure as valid, or the Comment link to challenge a procedure or comment on it. Each clinical program will tailor the evaluation forms, procedures and other elements to meet their specific needs. The data will be aggregated across clinical training programs to meet the tracking and reporting needs of GME and its satellite institutions.

Thomas G. Cooney, MD, Vice Chairman for Education and Professor, Department of Medicine at OHSU, is excited about this next phase of development, “Having studied carefully the available commercial products, we are particularly attracted to Verinform's capacity and ease for customization by the user and the broad range of features the system will offer.” Cooney continues, “No other vendor offers such an approach and we are excited about the ability to implement this as a Web based system, an approach that overcomes serious cross network issues our multi-hospital training presented.”

Reports to the Residency Review Committee, Graduate Medical Education and the Intern and Resident Information System (IRIS) are created automatically. Users can customize their procedure list and evaluation forms to fit their specific needs. The software accepts data imports from the ERAS and OnCall systems, among others.
